Jan. 27th, 2016 07:21 pmIt's not that she was actively trying to hide the whole 'emergency splenectomy' thing from her family. It's just that, once she got back to Gotham after her world tour, she immediately got dragged into more League business, and she didn't really have time to process it. She did consult Leslie about it and got set up with a prescription for antibiotics to get filled and have on hand, but an incidental side effect of her emancipated minor status is that, legally, even Bruce isn't supposed to have access to her medical records without Tim's express permission.
She just. Failed to mention it to anyone. It was passive hiding at best. Besides, bringing it up would mean talking about some of the stuff that happened during a period of time when most of the people she cared about thought she was having a psychotic break or something, and frankly, she'd rather not think about it.
It's the kind of secret that really only keeps until the first time she has to go to Alfred for anything major enough for a certain missing organ to become noticeable. (Or. Not noticeable, as the case may be.) So, given their rate of injury, a ticking time bomb, in other words.
It's a good thing the broken ribs she actually came in for are already making her seriously regret some life choices. Get a head start on that.
